What Happens During an Autism Assessment?
To provide the most appropriate guidance and recommendations, we first take time to understand you or your family member's unique experiences, strengths, and support needs.
Our experienced clinicians carry out a comprehensive Autism assessment to explore communication, social interaction, sensory experiences, behaviours, and developmental history. The assessment is designed to build a clear understanding of the individual and determine whether Autism forms part of their neurodevelopmental profile.
Step 1: Initial Screening
Our screening process provides an early indication of whether ADHD, Autism, or both may be present. If neurodevelopmental characteristics are identified, we will recommend progressing to a comprehensive combined assessment.
Step 2: Information Gathering
We gather information from a range of relevant sources to build a complete understanding of the individual's experiences, strengths, and support needs. This may include developmental history, questionnaires, and information from parents, carers, schools, family members, or other professionals where appropriate.
Step 3: Assessments
Our combined assessment is carried out by experienced clinicians with expertise in ADHD, Autism, and neurodevelopmental conditions. We explore communication, social interaction, attention, focus, sensory experiences, emotional regulation, behaviour, and developmental history to build a detailed understanding of the individual.
Using recognised assessment methods and clinical expertise, we evaluate whether ADHD, Autism, or both form part of the individual's neurodevelopmental profile.
Step 4: Diagnostic Report
Following assessment, you will receive a comprehensive report outlining the assessment findings, diagnostic outcomes, individual strengths, and recommendations for support.
Written in a clear and easy-to-understand format, the report can be shared with schools, employers, healthcare professionals, and other support services where appropriate.
Step 5: Support & Next Steps
Whether ADHD, Autism, both conditions, or neither are identified, we will discuss appropriate recommendations, resources, and support options tailored to the individual's needs.
